The helm is not just a steering mechanism. It is the point of inflection: the single position where a navigator can see in every direction, read the horizon, respond to what is approaching, and set a course with confidence. You can hold the wheel yourself or delegate to a trusted crew. What you cannot do from the helm is be passive.
That precision of position is exactly what Helm Business Advisory brings to its clients. Not advice from the sidelines. Not observation from below deck. We stand at the helm alongside leadership: present, oriented, and ready to move.
The helm is the only position with full visibility in every direction: competitive landscape, cash position, operational risk, and what is coming next.
Holding the helm does not mean doing everything yourself. It means knowing what to direct, what to delegate, and when to adjust course without losing momentum.
Markets shift. Investors evolve. Competitive signals change. The helm is where those inputs are read and translated into deliberate action, not reaction.
The best leaders are not reacting to what is underfoot. They are watching what is far ahead, giving the organization time and space to respond well.
CPA, Founder & Principal
I bring the presence, judgment, and candor of a seasoned finance executive, without the full-time overhead.
Danielle Rommé is a CPA with more than twenty years of experience across Big 4 public accounting, multinational corporations, high-growth private companies, and public company reporting environments. She began her career at KPMG and Grant Thornton, where she managed complex audit engagements across a range of industries before moving into industry roles that required her to build and lead finance functions from the ground up.
Her career has spanned IPO and exit readiness, system implementations, M&A diligence, post-acquisition integrations, and full finance function builds. She founded Helm to provide privately held businesses, PE-backed businesses and nonprofits access to the caliber of financial leadership typically reserved for large enterprises — embedded, senior, and built around what the business actually needs.

Helm was built on a straightforward premise: the businesses that need the most sophisticated financial leadership are often the ones least able to access it. A full-time CFO with the right background commands a significant salary. Consultants deliver reports. Neither is what most growing businesses actually need.
What they need is someone who can understand the operations of the business and tell the story of it through the financials. They need someone to function as a genuine member of the leadership team, while bringing the experience and technical rigor of someone who has done this work at scale.
That is what Helm provides. Every engagement is senior-led. Clients work directly with Danielle throughout. The work is direct, technically rigorous, and built around one objective: giving business owners and investors the financial clarity they need to make confident decisions.
Most conversations start with a single question. Tell us what's going on and we'll be direct about whether and how Helm can help.
